I want to introduce you to Joemarie Morillo (pronounced JOE maari). Joemarie is a part of our feeding in San Pedro, Laguna in the Philippines. He is 2 years old, and will turn 3 on June 21st. At almost 3, Joemarie weighs just 8 kg (about 17.5 lbs.) due to tuberculosis.
The youngest of 6 siblings, he and his brothers & sisters moved to the home of their aunt in San Pedro, Laguna from Tagkawayan, in Quezon Province, after their mother died of tuberculosis in 2008. Their father then died of tuberculosis in 2009.
We are so thankful for the willingness of Joemarie's aunt and uncle to take them in. This is a huge challenge for this family, as their Aunt Vivina has no job, and their Uncle Mario is a construction worker, and they already have 7 children of their own!
Joemarie is in need of further testing to determine the extent of the tuberculosis. He has difficulty breathing, and requires regular medication. We just purchased all his prescribed meds (quite a bit for such a little guy!).
